Expanding mental health resiliency and nonprofit capacity in Monroe County

Catholic Charities of Bloomington, the Bloomington Housing Authority, and LIFEDesigns were each awarded Resilient Community Mental Health Grants in November 2020 to enhance or expand mental, emotional, and behavioral health programs. Since late 2020, these three organizations have already made an incredible difference in the lives and well-being of people in Monroe County. Read more »

Centerstone: Transitional housing program changing lives while keeping families together

The Community Foundation awarded a proactive grant to Centerstone in 2017 for a new transitional housing and substance abuse treatment program for women, women who are pregnant, or women who have young children. This recovery option enables mothers to keep their young children with them, rather than leave children with family members or in foster care. Read more »

People and Animal Learning Services: So much more than fencing

The Community Foundation awarded a 2018 Community Impact Grant to People and Animal Learning Services to help fund the construction of new fencing in areas used for therapeutic riding. It will enable PALS to nearly double the number of children and adults served. Read more »

Fairview Preschool: Learning, powered by giving

Through a grant from the Community Foundation’s Strategic Grantmaking Fund, a new Fairview Preschool class is getting 4-year-olds moving toward literacy. Read more »

Hoosier Hills Food Bank: Impact, powered by giving

The Hoosier Hills Food Bank’s new high-capacity storage cooler, funded by a grant from the Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County, will enable fresh, nutritious food to reach more than 28,000 low-income families in the area. Read more »
